Patricia béretta

Acupuncture, Shiatsu Massage, Tai-Chi, and QiGong.

I bring together Traditional Chinese Medicine (Registered Acupuncturist), and Biomedical Sciences (PhD), to help people feel better, naturally and holistically. I mainly practice from Courtland Acupuncture, but I am also a Private External Health Care Practitioner for Grand River Hospital. I teach Tai-Chi and QiGong as well.

I often help people with challenging health issues such as pain and chronic conditions that are otherwise not well addressed and require holistic care. I have treated people with acute and chronic pain, and disorders of all origins: brain injuries, neurological, digestive, hormonal, respiratory, immune, cardio-vascular, dermatologic, mental, stress related, as well as women's health, menopause, fertility (men and women), and pregnancy. I have provided support to people during or after cancer treatments.

I thrive on supporting my patients and students in their journey towards recovery & health maintenance. I start treatments with a thorough personalized assessment. By manually selecting acu-points that change pain or tender areas when pressed, to ensure that acupuncture needles are inserted only in points that are effective.
With sensible self-care advice, as well as easy Tai-Chi and QiGong exercises, I promote lifestyle changes that are suitable to each person's condition, which are also realistic for our busy modern lifestyle.

Acupuncture, Acupressure Massage, Holistic Counselling & Mindful Practice

I have been a Holistic Family Counsellor since 2006, and have worked in two Naturopath Offices, and now from our Practice at Courtland Acupuncture. I have integrated Acupuncture/Chinese Medicine [including Acupressure Massage (Tuina), Cupping, Medical Qigong] into my Clinical Practice as it is an effective Holistic Treatment system to address pain and tension, whether it is physical, mental, or emotional. I strive to provide clients with pain and stress/conflict management, as well as deep and effective healing treatments, whether they are in need of Counselling, Acupuncture, Massage, or all of the above.

In acupuncture treatments, each session includes therapeutic massage along the acupuncture channels that will address your concerns, so your body is relaxed enough to get the most from your needling session.

If you have chronic health issues, I may also suggest the help of other practitioners such as Herbalists, Naturopaths, or Nutritionists, like Dianna and Laura at Infinity North for a tele-consult (they are a Naturopath/Nutritionist team), or other local practitioners for in-person visits.

With regard to mental-emotional health, there are many acupuncture points that address mental or emotional stress as well as various body or organ systems, which makes Acupuncture a good accompaniment to Counselling if you’re interested in physical relaxation/rebalancing, in addition to addressing mental-emotional or relationship issues.

As a Holistic Counsellor, I help clients define and address the subtle details behind conflicts, and to find balance within the systems of daily obligations, relationships, and life as a whole- with the ultimate goal of helping people find peace and meaning. My approach to Counselling is drawn from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Positive Psychology, Family Systems Theory, Conflict Management, Energy Medicine, and Mindfulness Concepts and Practices. Clients receive follow-up notes after our sessions to make sure they get the most out of their appointment times and can practically apply what we’ve discussed.

I have counselled people about communication, boundary setting, confronting illness and death, grief, goals, relationships, affairs, abuse, forgiveness, stress, identity issues, work conflicts, anxiety, depression, anger, social skills, self-awareness, spirituality, meaning, mindfulness and meditation.

My qualifications include Registered Acupuncturist, Holistic Counsellor, Honours Bachelor of Arts (Literature, Psychology, Humanities), and Reiki Master. Energy Medicine interests me, and I am currently working to become more proficient in the area of Medical Qigong (moving energy practice). I have a book called Mindful Intelligence that will be completed in 2023, along with Mindfulness Practice Cards.
